Contracts

Matching orders into contracts

Contracts open from the order book in two ways: you click Open contract on an order, or the book auto-matches when buy and sell cross. Both paths need the other side to accept before chat unlocks (auto-match needs both sides). Click-open uses the order owner price; auto-match uses mid-price. Establishing fee is $1.10 - buyer pays it once (buy listing or when opening against a sell). Sellers matching a funded buy do not pay it again. Pending requests expire after 3 days - the side that did not answer loses that order as unavailable. On Messages, each pending match and open deal shows market, buy/sell role, price, contract status, and escrow status in one strip so you know what the contract is for without leaving chat. The Orderbook rail beside the chat lists your open buy/sell rows by market with price - tap one to open that market on the order. On Messages Telegram chats, that rail lists orders linked to the open peer on either Add Order side (Buyer or Seller after swap), and hosts mute, market-search status, Add Order, and sync (FAQ).

Click Open contract

From a buy or sell row, Open contract sends a request at the order owner price (the listed price of the order you open against). Messaging stays locked until the other side accepts (within 3 days).

  • Buyer opens against a sell - you pay establishing $1.10 + price + 1.1% into escrow now; the seller must accept. If they do not answer in 3 days, the request cancels and their sell order is removed as unavailable (your escrow is refunded).
  • Seller opens against a buy - you pay $0; the buyer already funded establishing with the buy listing. The buyer must accept. If they do not answer in 3 days, the request cancels and their buy order is removed as unavailable.
  • Self-contract - open against your own buy or sell from order details. One chat per contract at that order's price with normal fees; messaging opens immediately. Buy chats are the Buyer Telegram thread; sell chats are the Seller Telegram thread. Under Telegram, You is your Team account and the arrow points at the trader contact for that thread - never your Team handle twice. The Messages list title and chat header show that trader's Telegram handle first, then via your Team handle for the contract - not your Up-YourLife profile. Deal title stays in Deal / as a secondary line. Compose in that chat sends to the linked trader on Telegram automatically - including when they have no Up-YourLife account. Your compose lines stay on the right with the Up-YourLife badge; trader Telegram replies stay on the left with the Telegram badge. Link / Unlink anytime - sync only while linked. Forward / Skip is only for the other bridged leg (buy ↔ sell), not for same-thread delivery. Link buy ↔ sell contracts so inbound trader Telegram lines appear live in the message list with the Telegram badge (not System - and without a From Seller Telegram: prefix). Web composer lines use the Up-YourLife logo badge. System lines use the settings badge. Forwarded copies on the other leg use the forward badge. After Forward, icon chips show whether Up-YourLife and Telegram each accepted the line - retry Telegram if needed. Forward / Skip sit under each Telegram bubble (pencil edits before forward). Bridged sell and buy chats group together in the chat list. Messages shows Chats on the left and Contract on the right - hide or expand each from the chat header. Contract groups Deal, Telegram, and Bridge (+ / -, one open). In Bridge, link sell → buy, then tap the arrow to open the linked leg (same arrow on the chat list). Escrow stays on each contract once.
  • Decline as Not available now or Prefer not this person- same rules as auto-match (not used for self-deals).

Automatic match

After a buy or sell is listed, if the highest active buy is at or above the lowest active sell, Up-YourLife proposes a mid-price match. Both buyer and seller must accept before messaging starts.

  • Proposed price = (highest buy + lowest sell) ÷ 2 - the market mid-price
  • Both orders move to In contract while the match is pending; they cannot be deleted until the match is accepted, declined, or the contract ends
  • Establishing $1.10 stays held on the buy listing until both accept; the market owner $0.10 share is credited only when the match completes. Wallet still needs price + 1.1% free when both accept - if the buyer is short, the match request still opens and we notify them to deposit; Accept finishes after the top-up
  • Both sides get Accept / Decline on Messages and Contracts. Answer within 3 days - after that the request cancels and the side that did not answer has their order removed as unavailable
  • Decline Not available now - closes the match and removes your order; the other order returns to the book
  • Decline Prefer not this person - restores both orders; you keep auto-match with everyone else, but this pair will not auto-match again

Fees ($10 example)

  • Establishing $1.10 = $1.00 site + $0.10 market owner (owner credited when the contract opens after accept)
  • At contract open for $10: buyer also funds price + transaction 1.1% ($0.11) into deal escrow
  • Transaction 1.1% = 1% site + 0.1% market owner
  • Seller receives the full contract price at settlement

Details: establishing fee, buy order escrow.

Escrow choice and opening rules

Pending matches use one Messages panel for price, rules, and Accept actions - not a second copy of the same System wall of text. Establishing rules also post once in the thread (including self-deals) - never duplicated after accept. Opening on Up-YourLife still means: we do not push members to use only our escrow; the contract price is fixed (report anyone who asks to change it); accept only if you are available now; do not share contact info until the deal can succeed - once contact is shared, establishing cannot be refunded. More: establishing fee, fee refunds.

A contract opens when buy and sell orders match (or when messaging a sell order under escrow rules). On Contracts, each row shows You buy / You sell, Buyer (pays escrow) vs Seller (delivers), price, and escrow - grouped Opened / Paused / Ended. Guests see a Guided tour card (Sign in + X; refresh restores until Sign in).
